Another great week in the WAR world. A newsletter, many interviews, previews, articles and more, rounded up for your delectation:

This week's Secret Lives of Mobs pays homage to the often-used "WAR is Led Zeppelin" metaphor in Rory's distinctive manner.

EA Mythic folks at the WAR Herald posted a roundup of their own with all the recent coverage from Comic Con and a CVG preview.

The April Newsletter is here! No breaking news this month, but it states that the May newsletter will reveal the last High Elf class.

Massively.com have posted an interview with various WAR developers about the current state of the game. It also contains 3 new screenshots.

Canadian residents can now pre-order the Collector's Edition from The Source. All details are in the Herald post.

You know, it's probably the recent news with the delay of Warhammer Online to Autumn of 2008, but there's certainly been more of the kinds of posts in the community that I like to affectionately refer to as "Chicken Little" posts.

For those of you who are somehow unaware of this wonderful little fable, the short version is as follows:

Chicken Little assumes the sky is falling because an acorn falls on her head.

Chicken Little convinces other animals of her story and whips them into a frenzy.

Chicken Little and her friends are eventually eaten by a fox for their stupidity.

Oh, how I wish there was a fox to eat all the Chicken Littles that happen to be popping up lately. You may have seen some of these posts in your travels around the WAR community. Sometimes based upon as little as a few sentences from EA Mythic or even 4 or 5 seconds of grainy video footage, the people who like to post these wonderful nuggets of supposed knowledge about the game have no problem making a huge leap when it comes to the way something is going to work. General sweeping statements, proclamations of doom, and worst of all a definitive conclusion are the telltale signs of a Chicken Little popping up. With the amount of pre-cognition you see in these threads you would think that they had paid for a reading by Miss Cleo and actually believed what they got.

Don't let this bring you down though; they're taking a few months to do heavy internal testing, as well as implementation of all kinds of cool stuff, with beta expected to begin anew in December.

Greetings all!

Recently, all WAR Beta participants received a letter stating our plan to end this phase of the closed beta test this Wednesday, October 10th. We periodically close Beta, our last closure being in March of this year, to focus on major improvements and polish. The next phase of Beta will reopen in early December with plenty of new and improved content, art and systems for our beta-testers.

We are very proud to have reached this point in development. Beta has been going very well and the testing community is extremely active. Excitement around the game continues to grow and the team is looking forward to enhancing many features already in the game as well as continuing to add new features to an already great game.

Based on player feedback, our own observations and our current schedule, we have set the following major development goals:

Improve open field skirmishes and battlefield objectives with major enhancements.

Provide players with even more options to customize their character both through their abilities and visual appearance.

Continue to enhance Public Quests and the PQ System.

Prepare the elves for their release into the world!

When the beta reopens, we look forward to welcoming back all of our current testers, as well as many new faces. Shortly after re-opening the doors, we will be inviting the first wave of guilds into the beta to really get things rolling.

Thank you!

- The Warhammer: Age of Reckoning Team

If you're looking to join in on a discussion about this, the folks over at Warhammer Alliance have a forum thread going on the topic.

Garthilk, the administrator and creator of Warhammer Alliance, had this to say about the partnership:

"Warhammer Alliance is very happy to announce that it has joined forces with one of the fastest growing MMO Communities, Curse. For the last several months, Warhammer Alliance has been in discussions with Curse regarding the future of both sites in the long term. Talks have gone extremely well. My primary concern has always been: what's best for this Warhammer community? With this announcement, I want to ensure everyone that this community has a long and healthy future ahead of it, as Curse will be supporting Warhammer Alliances future growth."

You can read more on the partnership on the Curse & WHA partnership announcement on the Warhammer Alliance forums.
