  • About ChatMacros
  •

ChatMacros provides a simpler way to make macros that send dynamic chat messages - whether it be sending tells to your friendly or mouseover targets, or modifying messages to contain target names.

To use ChatMacros once you have it installed, make macros similar to these (remember to include the /script in the macro):

  • /script chatmacro("/shout Everyone kill %t!")
  • /script chatmacro("/tell %m I'm mousing over you...")

Three substitutions are available:

  • %t - current hostile target's name
  • %f - currently friendly target's name
  • %m - current mouseover target's name

Could you use this as tool to focus fire? For example:
    /script chatmacro("/assist %f")
Shouldn't that, theoretically, target hostile target of your current friendly target, that is, assist?

Just using "/assist" in a macro without a name specified will already do that for you.

Since 1.2 perhaps, not sure about loggin' to another character, but by exiting the game, if there is a second line to the macro, everything is deleted beyond the first line. I have one that goes into the second line and never use to have problems, but now, every time I have to fix it to make it work every time I log in.

See the comment directly below this one. It's a WAR 1.2 bug.

OK, I loaded this and made a macro button with this macro:

    /script chatmacro("/shout Everyone kill %t!")

I click it and nothing happens. What silly thing am I doing wrong? Thank you!

Hmm, that's odd. I just tested that exact macro, and it worked. Maybe make sure the mod was properly installed?

When I log out of the game, the macro I made that sends private messages to my dead friendly target to let them know I'm rezzing them doesn't work. When I check the macro, it stops mid-sentence before it goes to the second line. It literally stops in the middle of the word "please" at "ple". If I go in after every single time I log in and finish the sentence, then add the ") it works just fine again. Until I log out. Then if I log in again, it loses everything after "ple" once more... How can I fix this?

It's a bug with the 1.2 client, it cuts off anything after the first line. Nothing to do with addons, I'm afraid. :/

That is very unfortunate. I've adjusted my macros to accommodate the stupid 1 line bug :(

How about adding a %pos or %p for position? Would be incredibly useful if you get seperated from a party or wb and an opponent or 20 start attacking you.

    /script chatmacro("/wb ZOMG HELP ME! I'm being attacked by %t at %p!!!")

Is it possible to macro more than one line at a time?
    For example I want:
    /party line 1
    /warband line 2

Not currently, but I may add support in a future version. Stay tuned. :)

  • Next Question.
Is there a way to add a spell cast into this?
For instance saying your rezzing someone and would like
your rez to be cast at the same time, Or directly after saying so.
/cast so and so. maybe we would have to include some script code for the
spell we want from the warDB? Kind of like how we have to input
    range finding spells into Squared.
Thank you again. the %f works awesome I love this.
we only have 4 action bars so im trying to save slots.
a google search was a tad confusing as most people want to cast 2 spells with one or 2 clicks of the same macro. I just want to say who im rezzing with the spell cast.
    Sorry for long post.

Not possible; addons cannot cast spells.

If you want chat accompanying spell casts, I'd suggest using the ThinkOutLoud addon to automatically trigger chat for given spells. It has support for target name substitutions as well in its chat options.

  • Thanks so much for the info. :)

  • Ok Sorry..I was making a mistake

Mousing over someone works. But this would be much nicer if I had my target selected and have this work.

    Or Both.

Use %f for selected friendly target, instead of %m for mouseover target?
