This addon helps the Chosen player with twisting multiple Chaotic Auras through a single keybinding, activating two or three in succession at regular intervals during combat. After you have set up different hotbar pages with different Aura abilities in a predetermined slot (#1 through #12) of each page (#1 through #5), they show up in the same slot in a single actionbar (such as actionbar2 or actionbar4) where the pages are rotated, allowing a single keybinding for that slot on that actionbar to activate the different Aura abilities on that same slot of different pages. (Watch the vid, you'll get it!)
...after you've followed all instructions and checked for all known issues.
1-2-3-Go
1. Watch the video (mirror on Google video) and make sure it is something you want and can use.
2. Open the readme.txt for reading and reference while you are getting it working.
3. Once in-game, type "/chosen" and follow the further clues to type "/chosen help", "/chosen usage", "/chosen setbar N", and "/chosen dumpdata". Before actually activating, make sure your hotbar pages are slotted and keys bound as desired.
Go. Activate with the "/chosen start Pg1 Pg2" command. Hit keybinding. Have fun.
Known Issues
1. Will break on loading new zone, such as scenario. Workaround until fix is /reloadui and then /chosen resume.
2. Does not work at all in any client with a localization other than the English one. So no joy for users of the German/French/Spanish/etc. clients at this time.
3. The addon requires the default BuffTrackers window for the player unitframe. That is, you need to be able to see the little buff icons for Auras under your player target. If you don't, reconfigure or uninstall the addon hiding them (e.g. CUF).
4. The correct syntax for a macro is /script slash("chosen resume") regardless of what you saw in the instruction vid.
5. The "resume" command in 1.02 forgets to print a message to chat similar to the "start" command's message. It does activate.
6. The addon's intended functionality is to give you zero alerts while out of combat, with the exception of one upon activation. You won't see or hear all the bells and whistles until you get into combat. It should still rotate hotbar pages out of combat if set up correctly.
Bug Reports and Contact
Please continue to submit bug reports through the bug ticket tracker (e-mail to peterkirby@gmail.com works too...premature curse comments are bad mm'kay). You may also be able to track me down in Warhammer as the character Doomhammer (or, more likely, Doomzealot) on the server Vortex. If so, send me a tell. I am often in #waruidev on irc.freenode.net as BotanicalPuppet and on WarhammerAlliance.com's UI Discussion forum as Doomvortex.
VERSION 1.02. Should now work with clients with an interface in a language other than English (e.g. the German client). [WRONG, it is still broken for all non-English clients.] Still needs to be restarted after loading a new zone. [Restart with /reloadui and /chosen resume.] For other issues, see the "KNOWN ISSUES" on the project description.
VERSION 1.01. This is an update for the 1.01 patch of the Warhammer Online client, released on October 2, 2008, in North America. If you get an error message with the 1.0 client related to the ChatWindow object, delete the addon and install this version. I should note now that there is a known bug where the addon will revert to inactive (stop) when loading a new zone (such as a scenario or instance or after flying). As a workaround until this is fixed, using ["/reloadui" and] a "/chosen resume" macro is recommended, which you will have to click each time you load a zone and want to be able to use the addon. [The correct code for the macro is: /script slash("chosen resume"). Trying to use "/chosen resume" as your actual macro text will give you no joy.]
VERSION 1.0. This greatly improved version does all page rotation and user alert actions based on changes in the state of the game--i.e., when the user first creates an aura or when the aura abilities are on cooldown (that's when you need to rotate pages) or when the user enters combat (alert needed) or when the previous, lingering aura has 6 seconds left on it (while rotating three pages, that's when you need to alert) or has just expired (while rotating two pages, that's when you need to alert). It will also still do an alert upon being activated (and rotate to a different page than what is already up if rotating multiple pages, so that you don't just cancel what you already have). Notice that the alerts and the rotation have been unpaired as events. You can easily hit your next aura early or let it go for a while with few or no ill effects. (Note that several settings were improved or added in this version also.)
VERSION 0.9. The initial release of the addon rotates the hotbar page and makes an alert and sound on these occasions: (1) When first starting or resuming the use of the addon. (2) If two or three auras are being twisted, upon entering combat. (3) If two auras are being twisted, every 13.9 seconds during combat. (4) If three auras are being twisted, then every 6.95 seconds during combat. (Note that with version 0.9, the initial release, a timer that was independent of when the aura's debuff actually expired was used. Also, alerts and page rotations were simultaneous. Please update to the current version if using 0.9, and you will notice the improvement.)
Installation Guide
- Exit "Warhammer Online" completely
- Download the mod you want to install
- Make a folder on your desktop called "My Mods"
- Save the .zip/.rar files to this folder.
- If, when you try to download the file, it automatically "opens" it... you need to RIGHT click on the link and "save as..." or "Save Target As".
- Extract the file - commonly known as 'unzipping'
Do this ONE FILE AT A TIME!
- Windows
- Windows XP has a built in ZIP extractor. Double click on the file to open it, inside should be the file or folders needed. Copy these outside to the "My Mods" folder.
- WinRAR: Right click the file, select "Extract Here"
- WinZip: You MUST make sure the option to "Use Folder Names" is CHECKED or it will just extract the files and not make the proper folders how the Authors designed
- Verify your WAR Installation Path
That is where you are running WAR from and THAT is where you need to install your mods.
- Move to the Addon folder
- Open your Warhammer Online folder. (default is C:\Program Files\Warhammer Online\)
- Go into the "Interface" folder.
- Go into the "AddOns" folder.
- In a new window, open the "My Mods" folder.
- The "My Mods" folder should have the "Addonname" folder in it.
- Move the "Addonname" folder into the "AddOns" folder
- Start Warhammer Online
Translations
When you download a mod, please be sure that the mod is compatible with your translation of WAR. Some mods only work on the US versions, while some only work on some of the various European versions. These variations are called "Localizations".
