Overview

DuffTimer Filter is a plugin for DuffTimer that allows you to define custom filter sets, which can change what effects DuffTimer shows.

Requirements

You must be using DuffTimer v2.2.0 or later.

Usage

After installing DuffTimer Filter a new button will be placed on the DuffTimer options window in the general tab under advanced options. See the screenshot below. Click on that button to open the DuffTimer Filter window. In the filter window you will need to type in the name of a filter to create, click on new, then select your filter and load it. At that point you may edit the filter to define it's behavior. Once you are satisfied click on save and the filter will be applied to the windows you set under the windows tab.

  • There are two types of filters you can apply: flags and names.
  • Under the flags tab you can see all of the flags that are defined on effects.
    • You may choose to include any of these flags in your filter, and to either include only those effects that have the flag set to a desired state or exclude all effects that have that flag set to a desired state.
    • You may include any number of flags in your filter, mixing and matching includes and excludes as you please.
    • To pass the filter an effect must meet all of the criteria defined.
  • For a name filter you can define it two ways, include or exclude.
    • An include filter will only allow those names that are on the list to pass the filter.
    • An exclude filter will not allow any names that are on the list to pass the filter.
    • Spaces, capitalization, and punctuation are removed from all names.
  • A filter may include multiple types of filters, although there's usually no point to doing so.
  • After defining the filter you must go to the windows tab and put all DuffTimer windows that you want to use this filter in the windows list.
  • If you rearrange the order of your DuffTimer windows, by right clicking on the tabs in the DuffTimer options window, you will need to update the windows list for your filters.

Having problems filtering off my "Da Biggest!" procs (can steal any of your enemies stats) so it stacks up to a pile of 7 if im lucky.

Anyways, I dont want this to be shown in my dufftimer filter, i've tried everything, filtering through Flag & Names and Windows. I cant seem to get it to work, maybe because its a passive buff that give these 7 procs?

Putting the name of the buff you want to get rid of in the names as an exclude filter should work. Did you put the number of the window you want to filter Da Biggest out of in the windows tab of the filter?

  • Sorry my bad, I just realized "Potent enchantment" is a SM tactic. I thought it was a generic name for enchantents's target. I'm still wondering how to include "Tous à l'assaut!", and would like to know: On my hostile targern, I would like to see: 1> All the debuff cast by me 2> All the enchantments I can remove (cast by the target or cast by a friend of him).
This would be perfect for me to keep an eye on refreshing my debuff and to know when I can unbewitch
    Have a good day.

It should work if you type in the full effect name, in this case "Tous à l'assaut!". Both strings are then run through the same filters, so they should match.

You don't really need to make a filter to show debuffs cast by you, you can do that with Dufftimer's standard options.

The only thing the client knows is whether or not you cast an effect, there's no way to find out if the target cast it.

  • Hello, very nice addon.
I would like too know, what do I have to type to include the spell "Tous à l'assaut"? I've been trying without space and punctuation but I guess "é;è;à;ù" mess things up, I managed to include "défi" though.

Moreover I've seen in some vids the icon "potent echantment", what do I have to do to see something like this which would let me know when I have to unbewitch.
    Thanks a lot

"Spaces, capitalization, and punctuation are removed from all names. "
So how do you actually filter with names ?
99% of buff/debuff have spaces in them

It removes them from the name you type in, and from the buff/debuff name before comparison. It's just to make it easier, you don't have to worry about capitalization or punctuation when inputting a name.

Is there anyway to use this addon so that one can properly filter mislabeled buffs? For example, many "buffs" are classified as "debuffs" by Mythic. It seems Mythic has no interest in fixing this. Thanks.

You can use this addon to change the filters yes. Here is a link to the function that the default UI uses, which is also used by DuffTimer to define buffs and debuffs, to give you an idea of what's going on.

    http://www.thewarwiki.com/wiki/API:DataUtils.GetAbilityTypeTextureAndColor

To replace this, install DT Filter and then set cast by self and cast by others to all or none in DT. Then define two filters in DuffTimer Filter, one for buffs and one for debuffs, and in DT Filter's windows tab apply them to whatever windows you want.

How to define a buff or debuff is up to you, but DT Filter exposes every flag defined in an effect, so any definition you want should be possible.

If you want to have one window showing a combination of your buffs and everyone elses debuffs it's a little more complicated, you'd set cast by self and cast by others to all and then use the castByPlayer flag in DT Filter.

Or you could just filter by name, you could make a filter that lists all the buffs that show up as debuffs and then apply it to your debuff window to keep them out. The problem is DT Filter does not have a reverse filter option where you could then force those effects to appear in another window even though they wouldn't normally qualify. Not a bad idea for a feature.

I made a new filter, entered Potent Enchantments and Vaul's Buffer under maes, saved everything...but they still show up. What am I doing wrong?

Ehm, my bad :p entered it under names.

You put them in the exclude list?

Yep, and I haven't touched anything else in the dufftimer filters. Filter is loaded too.

Hmm, what about under the windows tab? You'd need to input the number of window you want the filter to affect there. Or you could just send me a pm with your savedsettings.lua file.

Dufftimer is v 2.2.1, but I don't really get the windows thing :s All I did was enter the names, just tried putting a random number (10) in the windows but that didn't change anything, it still displays the things I don't want it to.

Went and put in 1,2,3, and now it seems that it won't show the defensive stuff, but will still show everything I set to exclude on my target.

The number in windows corresponds to the DuffTimer window. The tabs at the top of DuffTimer will have a number and a target type. It's that number you need to match up to the numbers in the windows tab of Dufftimer Filter.

Another thing to check is your DuffTimer version. If using 2.1.0 you will be able to open the filter window and create filters, but they won't do anything uptil you update to 2.2.0 or above.
