Overview

DuffTimer Skin is a plugin for DuffTimer that allows you to define custom bar types, which change the appearance of DuffTimer's effect bars.

Requirements

You must be using DuffTimer v2.1.0 or later.

Usage

After installing DuffTimer Skin a new button will be placed on the DuffTimer options window in the general tab under advanced options. See the screenshot below. Click on that button to open the DuffTimer Skin window. In the skin window you will need to type in the name of a skin to create, click on new, then select your skin and load it. At that point you may edit it and use test to preview the new skin. Once you are satisfied click on save, and the skin will be available under bar type in the DuffTimer options window.

Limitations

  • Dufftimer Skin does not override any options already available to DuffTimer. If an option already exists in DuffTimer, such as the bar texture, then it is not available in DuffTimer Skin.

Hints

  • All of the fonts DuffTimer uses are 16-18 pixels high, keep this in mind when defining the Timer and Name heights.
  • You will be able to scale the window in the layout editor, so getting the overall size right is not as important as the relative sizes.
  • The bar and border elements will be set to the effect color, this is why they have no color attribute.
  • The skin you create does not have to fit within the preview area. For instance, vertical bars often extend above and below it. This does not matter, they will work fine.

Love this mod a lot. Lets me change dufftimers to be anything I like pretty much. Biggest complaint is the setting under "overall" that controls spacing. Doesn't control spacing entirely on its own so I had to fiddle with other settings to get zero or just a little spacing between my icons.

Still having a problem where my player-timer settings will not save(problem with the main mod probably, moreso than the duffskin mod). So I can't move the timers anywhere, nor change the direction they grow, etc.

I'm still having this strange problem where I can't save settings for my player-window. I can't change the x/y position where the timers show up on the screen. I got friendly-target and hostile to work just fine, but the player one seems bugged.

Will we ever see pre-made saved settings to load for this? Would be nice if you could just hit "Load->Buffhead-style" and it would load the settings to have buffhead style icons.

It might get an import/export feature.

What's this about your settings not saving? Are you getting any error messages, and is this related to the problem some people are having where the anchor positions don't save? If you are getting any error message please send them to me, and your savedvariables.lua file could also be useful.

Check the size of whatever other elements you have enabled. The addon figures out the overall size of each effect by looking at all of the enabled elements. The name and timer are usually the culprit when this happens because the text might not be long enough to fill the max size you set.

For example, if you have a 20x20 icon and a 20x30 timer and then set spacing to 0, there will be 10 pixels between each icon. Or it could be a 20x20 icon and 20x20 timer, but the timer's x offset is set to 10 (the offsets are all measured from the upper left corner).

Another example would be a 20x20 icon, 20x20 timer, but both of them are offset 10 pixels. That would also create some dead space, although this time on the left side.

This addon is buggy when resizing the buff/debuffs to their new sizes. The new frame size does not correspond to the icon... completely buggy.

There's not much I can do with this description, if you send me your savedsettings.lua file from the dufftimer skin directory maybe I can tell you what's going on.

  • If you are using curse client, to upgrade to the beta version 2.1 of Duff Timer you'll need to scroll through your mod list and right click on Duff Timer, go down to Install Type and choose Beta. Then it will install the beta version :)

    Hope this helps!

Installed this along with your new beta of Duff, but I don't have any new options that allow me to use these skins. Nothing new under general settings > Advanced. Any idea?

You don't see a button to open up duffskins, like it shows in the first screenshot?

If not what does it say when you type /duff version.

  • Hi, I'm using dufftimer 2.0.19 and I was trying to install the duffskinn addon and I'm having the same issue where the additional button isn't showing up in the dufftimer gui. I originally installed via the curse client, but then uninstalled and tried manually installing and /reloadui and still not seeing it. Is it a dependency/order of load issue perhaps?

Duffskin doesn't work with 2.0.19, you have to install 2.1.0 or higher.
