  • About Map Monster Navigator
  •

Do you miss the DAoC compass? Are you directionally challenged? Ever wondered just how far that spot is in the mountains? MapMonster Navigator has got you covered!

Map Monster Navigator includes:

  • On screen Compass indicating the direction the player is traveling in.
  • Zone coordinate window showing the players current position within the zone.
  • Waypoint tracking window, direction and distance to selected waypoints and map pins, including animated arrows on the zone map indicating waypoints

What's New

  • New compass layouts, circular and 3d compasses
  • Customizable layer setting for compass and position windows
  • Auto-hide setting for active waypoints window

About Waypoints

  • Only waypoints currently reachable on foot from your current zone will be considered active and shown in the tracking window
  • Only the first 6 reachable waypoints will be active, any others will be shown in the tracking window once one of the original 6 is removed, either manually or because you've reached it
  • Once you approach within 20 feet of a currently active waypoint you will receive a large alert message in the center of your screen telling you that you've reached your destination, "Navigator Quick Waypoints" will be deleted automatically and all others will simply be removed as a waypoint

Just signed in today and this mod doesn't work at all anymore. Comes up with an error, and does not display a compass or loc.

While im not sure why this fixes it, i made the following change and apothecary began working again.

in the MapMonster-Navigator.mod file, i changed

    UiMod name="MapMonster Navigator"
    to
    UiMod name="MapMonster-Navigator"

you need to also rename the settings directory under the user directory as it apparently uses this name for the directory name. if you dont rename this directory the naviagator will reset to the default location/settings

With 1.3 this breaks the Apothecary window - haven't had a chance to look into why for now though.

From my testing so far, the 3d compass no longer moves with the 1.3 patch.

My compass still works, but resets position on every relog.

  • Patch 1.2 Bugs:
Seem the image rotation got broken, so I have to find a new way around it to make the pretty arrows and circular compass spin. The linear and 3d compass still work the same and the waypoints do work, just the little arrows start flying around. I'll be posting a new version as soon as I can find a way to get the arrows to spin in the same spot

Yeah! Patch 1.2.1 fixed the image rotation bug!

BTW, I've registered the waypoints windows as moveable, because depending on the waypoint's title length, the window would stretch into other UI elements, so a moveable window fixes this.

After the patch, the compass no longer wants to save the location I move it to in the layout editor. It always resets to the upper left after a relog.

I tested the issue by renaming my original user directory and created a fresh one. I logged in, moved the window in the layout editor and then logged all the way out. Upon logging in the window was not where I moved it. I've tried this a number of times.

Still haven't had any luck pin pointing what is causing this issue yet. Works for a while and then I'll login another day and the compass will be in the upper left corner again. Gurr. Anyone else seeing this?

The Position indicator no longer saves its alpha value after 1.2.

  • This lacks a lot functionality, Plus big compass is well to big ugly ect. Now make more like Lightheaded & tomtom work then it be much better.

Great addon, but i can't seem to be able to move the compass where i want it on the screen, it always appears in the middle... any help?

  • If you move the compass with the layout editor it should stay where you put it after any reload or logout.

Move the compass layer like you would move any other layer

Should have some tool to automatically add map pins from other files, like from Tome Titan, with comments. ;)

  • My other project TomeTracker will eventually get much of that functionality. You can check out my other projects at http://war.curse.com/members/Bloodwalker.aspx
As for other addons and external data, I built MapMonster with a large number of API function any other addon can use to add and manage map pins for whatever they want, the full list is at http://war.curseforge.com/projects/mapmonster/pages/map-monster-api-reference/

  • Thanks for the feedback to help track down bugs. For actual bugs and errors instead of comments please use the ticket system on curse instead of all in one long comment here. Simply follow the Tickets link above to create a new ticket, I get them faster, they are easier to manage and the player filing the ticket can also get notifications, and many other features, all around much easier for me

Not sure what is happening but since 0.4.4 (I think, I havn't been using waypoints much) I have noticed this.
Lets say you just setup 5 wp's. The window shows all 5. As soon as you come to a waypoint, it removes the one you reached and also the next one. But only from the window. it still shows on the map. Everything works ok from then on as you come to more wp's except you always have the lone wp on map that doesn't show on wp window.

You can make the missing waypoint show back up on window by either reloading the UI or adding another wp on the map. But as soon as you come to the first wp again it removes 2 from window and leaves missing one on the map??

This is kind of hard to explain. This may help. Below is the Debug window output as you go through each wp (5 waypoints were created).

    [UiLog][Debug]:(MapMonster Navigator): Nav:Filter waypoints
    [UiLog][Debug]:(MapMonster Navigator): Destroying 1
    [UiLog][Debug]:(MapMonster Navigator): Destroying 2
    [UiLog][Debug]:(MapMonster Navigator): Destroying 3
    [UiLog][Debug]:(MapMonster Navigator): Destroying 4
    [UiLog][Debug]:(MapMonster Navigator): Destroying 5
    [UiLog][Debug]:(MapMonster Navigator): Destroying 1
    [UiLog][Debug]:(MapMonster Navigator): Destroying 2
    [UiLog][Debug]:(MapMonster Navigator): Destroying 3
    [UiLog][Debug]:(MapMonster Navigator): Destroying 4
    [UiLog][Debug]:(MapMonster Navigator): Nav:Filter waypoints
    [UiLog][Debug]:(MapMonster Navigator): Destroying 1
    [UiLog][Debug]:(MapMonster Navigator): Destroying 2
    [UiLog][Debug]:(MapMonster Navigator): Destroying 3
    [UiLog][Debug]:(MapMonster Navigator): Destroying 1
    [UiLog][Debug]:(MapMonster Navigator): Destroying 2
    [UiLog][Debug]:(MapMonster Navigator): Destroying 3
    [UiLog][Debug]:(MapMonster Navigator): Nav:Filter waypoints
    [UiLog][Debug]:(MapMonster Navigator): Destroying 1
    [UiLog][Debug]:(MapMonster Navigator): Destroying 2
    [UiLog][Debug]:(MapMonster Navigator): Destroying 1
    [UiLog][Debug]:(MapMonster Navigator): Destroying 2
    [UiLog][Debug]:(MapMonster Navigator): Nav:Filter waypoints
    [UiLog][Debug]:(MapMonster Navigator): Destroying 1
    [UiLog][Debug]:(MapMonster Navigator): Destroying 1

You will notice that on the first wp reached (after a reload or wp add) it will always have an extra "Destroying #" that the following wp's reached Do Not?? It is on that first one with the extra destroy that you lose 2 wp's in the window.

Have I confused you totally now ... lol
