Notepad

Great addon but has anyone figured out how to save the Icon position's settings? I tried tweaking with the .lua file a bit but to no avail.... the Icon resets to the middle of my screen every time I reload/relog.

A must have. No more pen+paper!

I have very bad memory, and Notepad has helped me lots! Thanks for this simple but necessary addon. I use Notepad for listing cultivating seed/spore properties. :p

One important feature that's missing is a scrollbar. I've currently maxed out the window height, and now Notepad isn't much use to me anymore. Hope it'll be implemented soon. *fingers crossed*

Feature request: Support for multiple notes (give each note a title and have a list of available notes by title)

I cant see this addon anywhere when I log in. I checked through the UI editor to see if it was hiding anywhere, and nothing. Not sure how to make this one work, and I'd very much love to use it.

Type /debug, turn logging on, reload UI. If there is an error, you should see it in the log after a reload. If no error for Notepad shows up, try checking in the UiMod window (possibly /addon or possibly on the main menu depending what addons you have).

Actually, the problem was that I didn't have LibSlash installed, which I didn't realize was a requirement for this addon. Someone in-game mentioned it, and that solved the problem. Notepad is awesome!!!

For me, this is a nice little addon missing only two important things:
* Saved text should be per character (I want very diff notes for each char)
* The edit area should have a scroll bar or way to add more than just the one smallish screen of text.

Hmm. Odd. Looking at Notepad.xml, it looks like the edit box should have a scroll bar on the right but it did not when I was editing earlier (I was writing on the first line off the bottom of the screen).

Notepad window keeps popping up after leaving Layout Editor.

can you make it send text into an active chat channel instead just /say ?

Wheres the icon at? Can't find it anywhere on my screen or UI editor and the only way I can get it to pop up is by going in and out of the UI editor and magically the notepad window is there.

Nvm found it right on top of my chars head and buried under the help tip in UI editor

This is a great add on, but it does not save consistently. I'm using it to create a list of bugs for a friend who works on the game so he can submit them, and was hoping to use this so i can jot stuff down right after i notice it. Is there anyway to get it to save consistently? Once this is fix, also, is there a way to get the notepad to be save somewhere so if you do have a long document saved you can open it in windows and export to word?

It saves consistently for me except when WAR closes improperly (usually CTD). As near as I can tell, WAR only actually writes out the SavedVariables.lua files when it shuts down (or probably logs out as well) so if it crashes, all data changes go poof. Although I have noticed FastFriends manages to save even when WAR does CTD (no idea how when Notepad and a few others don't).

OK, this is really starting to get useful, miles better than the previous version. Some needed additions:
- Support cut & paste: you have cut, but no paste!
- Home/End should go to start/end of line, not the entire text.
- PageUp/PageDn should go to the start/end of the entire text instead.

I realize you don't exactly want to build a full fledged text editor in there, but it's deceiving that it lets you cut a chunk of text, but then you can't paste it back.

I'm not sure if that is possible: notepad uses an editor box builtin in WAR, so all editing bugs are WAR problem :( (I already reported the home/end problem to mythic, as well as selection highlighting problems)

As for cut&paste... it's working fine for me... o.o'

Hmm, I didn't realize the entire editing interface was a built-in function call. That means I/we should report problems with it to Mythic instead of here. Fair enough.

As far as Copy/Paste: it turns out that it works if you use CTRL-C & CTRL-V. However, I'm used to using SHIFT-DELETE and SHIFT-INSERT for Cut & Paste (which are standard in every other editor I can think of). Well, that doesn't work here - the SHIFT-DELETE looks like it works, but SHIFT-INSERT puts nothing back.

Anyway, I understand now that it's not something Notepad can fix.

eheheh, I always forget about shift+del & shift+ins as shortcuts for cut&paste ^_^;

I guess that shift+delete is processed as just delete, so it only deletes the content :(
However, it MAY be possible to trap the keypresses shift+del/ins and then copy&paste... If the author wants to look into that, it MAY be possible :)
