  • About PetAssist
  •

Will automatically tell your pet to assist you whenever you attack a target, allowing the player to shift targets and always have the pet on the same target you are without having to constantly reissue the attack command.  Inspired by Vanguard's "Assist" state.

Whats the slash command for ti to work?

Make sure you have LibSlash installed. At that point, it should be mostly active and you should get a chat text command saying it was activated. To double check, you should be able to do a /petassist toggle command to toggle it on and off

The project looks absolutely great but for any reason, it doesn't work. The game doesn't even notice the add-on is installed. :-( I installed it directly via CurseClient, and checked if the add-on was with the other ones I have, and everything seems all right. Don't know why it doesn't function :-( Any idea ? Is there any previously required add-on to install, or anything ? (I already tried the ingame commands, but don't work :-() Please help me Lion to attack my target :')

Do you have Libslash installed? You need Libslash to make almost all addons work. :)

Love it! thanks! as of 12/16 it still works (not sure which patch we're at)

note - you'll want either this or lpet (loyal pet). I use this 90% b/c I just want the pet to be a damage add... and I put "attack" button on my mouse for when I want him to annoy someone. After they're done, it just comes back to assist me again (unless I tell it to come back and assist me again by hitting the attack button again)

    wow, that was wordy...

I'd like an option where it will assist me unless it's attacking something else already. Sometimes I want it to attack a separate target (for messing with a caster/etc).

It'd be also cool if you had a reverse assist where you selected it's target when it gets a new one. Either automatically or via an assist macro type thing.

It should actually already do exactly what you guys are requesting. If you tell the pet manually (either via a keybind or the attack button on the UI) to attack something, it will disable the autoassist and attack what you told it until it finishes with that target. Once that is done, it will turn assist back on.

It might also do the same thing if it agros normally (like from an aggressive stance, but I'm not entirely sure on that notE).

I don't think so, are you having problems with it on the test server?

Nice addon Rasia, Im sick of clicking that attack button :)

As far as the "Vanguard" assist state goes I dont suppose you could tweak this addon to allow me to perma assist my main target (Tank usually)???
Thats another thing id pay good money for !!!

Check out the new version Kazren, should be pretty much working out I originally envisioned it now. Pet will autoassist you whenever you use an ability, if you tell him to attack something manually (via keybind or attack button click) he will stop assisting you until he finishes with that target.

Note that the pet is still subject to some normal monster hate rules and that will occasionally cause some oddities.

You can toggle it on and off with the /petassist toggle or /petassist on|off. However, when it is on, it will always change to your target even if you manually tell it to go elsewhere (or if he agros elsewhere).

It will work properly with defensive/aggressive, with the cavet of as soon as you attack he will update to your target. I'm currently investigating how to temporarily disable the assist if you manually tell him to attack (so you can send him after the healer and have him return to normal assist mode when he is finished without having to toggle it off and then back on).

That would be great. The best thing would be to add a new pet state. I'm completely oblivious to how coding works so I dont even know if thats possible. But to be able to change to a new state named Assist along side the passive, agressive and defensive state would be the ideal way to do it.

Your idea is something I've been waiting for, can't wait to see it more developed. Keep up the good work.

Pretty sure I have figured out how to do the temp. pause. I *could* add it as an entirely new state, but from testing it with my Magus, I found I enjoyed having the turret on Aggressive in PvP so he would shoot on his own when someone came near, and just switch to my target whenever I started attacking something. That would let my turret always be dealing damage to *someone* until I found a target I wanted to focus on. Realistically, if you want it to work how you describe, you can just put your pet in passive, and it should work perfectly.

Is this always active? What if you manually send it off to attack something and you want to attack another target? Will it stay on your target that you assigned to him? Does it have another pet state, like passive or aggressive that you can toggle this add on off or on with? If so, this is exactly what I've been looking for!
