A combat text mod based on Scrolling Combat Text but presented in a different way. Outgoing damage and heals fly from the top of your character in an arc to the left, while incoming damage and heals fly slowly off the right side of your character.

Created for 1024x768 resolution. Not guaranteed to work properly in extremely different resolution settings such as widescreen.

    Thanks for the comments and suggestions everyone. I'm currently not subscribed to WAR so I cannot release new updates. Well I could but they'd be untested so I couldn't guarantee they'd work properly. Sorry for any inconvenience! I'd like to change a lot in this mod if I were playing but I'm very busy with classes now.

    Now if only you could get the critical hit boxes in too... >:3

    II have a question tho... I tried screwing with the code to make it show your parries for and against. I can't get it to work LOL. Can I make a request for the developers to put this into their next version if possible? you're way more "into LUA" than I am heh.

  • I just downloaded this today and I love it with no bounds. I am a old school RO player and I enjoyed the way of seeing damage so much in that game. Quick question it there anyway for the incoming and outgoing heals to fly just below or above the damage making them easier to see. I think that would really add to it, just a couple degree difference. Thanks again for the mod.

    I downloaded your addon because I wanted something that allowed me to easily display my outgoing damage as well as incoming damage/heals. SCT gets way too crazy and has too many options, and I hate the way WAR displays this information.

    Your addon is very simple and clear, and I love it. FYI, I am playing on a widescreen LCD TV (1920x1080) and it looks great.

    I've never played Ragnarok Online but I'm a big fan of this combat text style. Thanks!

    Sorry for any scaling inconveniences. I might be able to fix scaling but not any resolution issues like perkristian's since I only have a 17" monitor and not widescreen. I'll have a look and see if I can do anything about the global scaling though.

  • It actually works just fine in 1680x1050. My curse client hadn't deleted another addon completely so it was interfering with this addon.
    The only think I'm missing are the parries, blocks etc. Other than that, excellent job =)

  • I'm running the game in 1680x1050 and all the default UI numbers are popping up as well as the ones from the addon. Is that simply because it's not fully compitable with such a resolution?

    I haven't tested your last release but it seem that your addon doesn't scale nicely with the interface scaling of warhammer. When I put my interface at 0.6 or 0.5 the data from your addon appear to be completely decaled with the 1.0 default interface scaling.

    I designed this combat text after RO because I think one of the best things about that game was the combat text. A lot of things were not really fun in that game but they got some little things right on the money. It's all about that spirit that's put into the way something is presented. It's about being explosive and fun, and not just satisfying a series of checkboxes. Classic ROCT can be found in this youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3vieFqvb8eA. Unfortunately I could not mimic it directly, as a 3D world is a lot different, but it's as close to the spirit of classic ROCT as I could get with WAR. I'm glad you all enjoy it.

    I'll consider it. Disrupt and block has a really obvious sound byte played, but as for parry, not so much I don't think. I never really personally felt the need for it, but if you guys want it then I may include that feature in a separate version. I'll put it in the works and see what happens.

    I prefer the way that ROCT combines information together so that I get a better feel for DPS/HPS in combat. (With WSCT, by comparison, I just feel spammed--there are too many numbers flying around too fast for me to get a good picture of how much DPS/HPS I am doing.) I find I am having to use WSCT instead, though, because it shows me misses (Disrupts, Blocks, Parries). Will you be incorporating this in ROCT? Right now when I get a Disrupt in ROCT, I don't see any feedback on the screen at all :(

    I designed this combat text to try and keep the feel of Ragnarok Online combat text, hence the name. The neat thing about that combat text was the rate at which damage flew out of people. It's just more hectic and exciting when damage is flying out of you so fast because you know either a) you're getting owned or b) you're owning. Unfortunately there's not much I can do to space it out or slow it down because it wasn't designed that way so it wouldn't work exactly how you're thinking if I changed the timing. But thanks for the comment!

    Nice mod I liked it. One thing though, damage recieved text are too close to eachother. In a rvr scenario there're tons of damage text on top of each other..
