The Seeker

An AddOn that allows searching for targets through mouseover or targeting by flagging them (overhead icon) and announcing us if they match a specific term. When in a scenario, it will mark players based on archtypes! Currently, it plays a sound, gives us a notice in chat and on screen and a ring of fire icon will appear over targets or the career icon aboe the players in scenarios.

Currently doesn't work on signs and probably some quest items (Due to different names). Requires Libslash.

Usage:

/seekfor heal|mdps|rdps|tank|name Displays an icon for the current hovered player if he is a Healer arch-type or for the current NPC if he has the string "heal" contained in his name, etc.

"|" is a character used for adding additional terms. The command above searches for every Career and an additional name.

Options (Will be bound into a GUI soon-ish):

/seek Shows us the list of /seek commands.

Future:

Match on tooltip information.

  • This has been reported not to work anymore. As soon as I see a fix for Floating Health Bars like on Pure and HUDuf, I'll fix this AddOn too. Until then, stay tooned. I cannot test due to no active sub.

  • Nevermind me. I did a stupid comment block in the .mod. Works properly now. Took me a long while.

Does this work? The macro seems to have no effect.

  • Yes, it does work. Only change is that HEALER is now HEAL.
Probably the options you set are a bit weird. Mmm. It should work.

  • Function looks like: function Seeker.SetTerm(term).
    Macro looks like:
    /script Seeker.SetTerm("tank")
Other terms are healer, rdps, mdps.

  • What I was asking in post a few posts down, about macros was, can amcro be made for somehting like "/seekfor heal|dps"? You can't just put that in a macro, since the addon has to support the macro, having it registered, or whatever the term is. So basically, a macro would have to be a /script macro, and I'm not sure what the format would be, if it's possible.

this mod looks awsome however im sure there must be a way to use other lib info to get information outside of scenarios now.
i would be happy just to have a mod where i could specify symbols above classes heads ie healers or Ranged dps.
Targetinfowindows mod seems to have screwed up the gui after 1.2 patch and this is the est mod out there i can use

  • Can this mod be used to quickly select the hero keep lord when the lord's room is full of champions and enemy players?

    Reply Report Permalink
  • This mod doesn't select anything. It simply announces when you've moused over the pre-determined target, with a sound and putting a circle over the target. You still have to aquire the target the normal ways.

The mod works like in old versions: you can specify a name, hover over, and the flaming circle is shown. The new functionalities such as seeking for DPS or HEAL, no longer work, as well as the specific class icon does not show. No idea what is wrong.

  • oamer, that is how the old version broke, are you sure you have the most recent build 0.12beta? I don't have time for a couple of days to look into it, but I will double check it as soon as I can.

It actually works in scenarios! Let me redownload and check

Ok, confirmed: DPS criteria, heal criteria, and specific class markings only work in scenarios. Any fix?

    Reply Report Permalink
  • That is how it is suppose to work currently. Unless there was a change with the newest update there isn't a way to really get the class information for a player outside of a scenario.

Hm, I am not sure how, but Moth somehow pulls up enemy information outside of scenarios. I wish I knew LUA so bad! Thanks anyhow Beeble, I still love your mod.

That's because this was coded when the only way to find out an enemy's class was to look at the scenario scoreboard.

Mythic has now implemented ways to find out this info for mods and this just needs to be rewriteen to take advantage of it like Moth.

  • Can macroes be made for this, and what would the command be?

    Reply Report Permalink
  • OneEyedJack, you can make any macro what you want for "/seekfor and /seek off (or on) or whatever. So far there is no unobtrusive way to "auto tag" everything that matches automatically you must mouse over or tab through all targets manually, so you can't really macro that part of it.
