About

This addon will answer the question: "Oi, where you at?". It does so by listing the zones your group mates are in and the number of your group mates that are in that zone.

It is created to quickly be able to find our where your WB have moved when you come back from AFK. It can also be used by leaders to see if people have joined a scenario as this is a common question asked in /wb.

Usage

Syntax:

/wya [command [channel]]

supported commands are: [sc|in|out|all] supported chat channels are: [p|wb|leader|player]

commands:

  • no command: prints out number of players according to zone. (decreasingly ordered)
  • sc: prints out the players that are currently in scenarios.
  • in: prints out the players currently in your zone.
  • out: prints out the players currently not in your zone.
  • all: prints out all players.

Channels: (you are only able to enter a channel if a command is given)

  • no channel: prints the output to the chat window (only visible to you).
  • p: prints the output of the command to the party channel
  • wb: prints the output of the command to the War Band channel
  • leader: whispers the output of the command to the party/warband leader
  • player: whispers the output to the player specified. e.g., /wya sc player NameOfPlayer

Macros

If you want to use Where you at in a macro, you will have to call the following command:

/script WhereYouAt.HandleSlash("command channel")

Where you will have to replace command and channel. An example could be: "sc wb".

  • update is on its way:
    - fixed the issue where the output would not show due to it being to long. (The addon will now split the output into pieces that are shorter than 250 characters and output them in intervals of 2 seconds)
    - fixed an issue where extra spaces in the command would produce errors
    - updated for version 1.3.1

I love this addon, but I often am fustrated by the fact that it often doesn't output to chat. As stated by the addon author, "There is a limit on the length of chat messages you can post in the ingame chat. You are simply not allowed by the client to use very long chat messages, and i have not found a way to post more than one message to chat." However, I'm pretty sure the addons Troubador and CommManager are designed for the express purpose of posting multiple messages to chat. Couldn't the code of those addons be used to improve this addon?

  • That sounds interesting, i will have to look into that. Thanks for the information!

  • I looked at what the addons you told me about did and I should be able to do something simmilar. But work got buzy and the guild started to fall apart, so i have not been playing for a month. I will try and take the time to update the addon, i hope to have it done by the time 1.3.1 comes out.

Is it possible to output the info to WB leader or other player?
    Ex:
    wya sc wbleader
    wya sc whispertoaplayer

BTW, Thanks for this usefull addon!

  • I have an update on its way to the interwebs that have the two features you requested.

you are should soon be able to do use the following commands:
/wya sc leader (whispers to the group/wb leader)
/wya sc player sniff (whispers to sniff)

Cannot get the all command to work with an output to the wb? Help please using /wya all wb anything wrong with that?

  • There is a limit on the length of chat messages you can post in the ingame chat. You are simply not allowed by the client to use very long chat messages, and i have not found a way to post more than one message to chat.

The only workaround there is so far is to simply use "/wya all" to get the info you want and then type in the part you want to share with your WB.

If you have an idea for a solution, you are welcome to write me.

All we need now is a way to post the output in a channel, /wb channel for example.

I would like to /wya sc and then have an option to put the result in the /wb channel

  • I will look into that. It should not be too difficult...

Looking forward to having an option to output to the WB channel, that would make this addon Complete :)

  • If I wanted to use this in a macro, what would I need to type in?

    Reply Report Permalink
  • It is not that pretty, but you can use the following:

    /script WhereYouAt.HandleSlash("sc")

That will to the same as "/wya sc" in the chat. The other commands can be used by replacing "sc" with something else, e.g., "" for getting the command "/wya".

    Hope it helps :)
