  • About xPanels
  •

xPanels allows you to create rectangular panels in all different colors, alphas and funky textures for your UI.

Slash config:
/xpanels to open the GUI

Dependencies:
This Addon uses LibSlash for slash commands.

A note about overlapping frames
WAR features 5 different "layers" in which frames can be created. The lowest is the Background Layer, which is where xPanels are located. It's not very controllable however, in what order frames in the Background Layer are arranged - I will add a possibility for xPanels, but if the Panels overlap other addons' frames, there is not much I can do about it. If you think that a frame of another addon shouldn't be layered to background (and overlayed by xPanels), please contact the mod's author.

How to use your own textures
xPanels 2.0 gives you the possibility to include your own textures in the game. To accomplish that, install the Custom Texture Package (unpack either in your /AddOns or /AddOns/xPanel-Folder) and follow the instructions in the readme.
I will probably add own textures in the xPanels Core at some time.

  • Ok guys Im at the end of my tether please if anyone can help with the following Id be really appreciative.

I have my custom panel complete, I have it saved as a 2048x512 DDS file with transparency, but when I load the texture in xpanels, first it's about 50% of actual size(yes, I entered the numbers correctly when loading the panel), the 2048 wide image barely fills my 1360 wide display. Second, it either loads as a completely invisible image which only displays in the game UI editor, or it loads with a white background to the image.

    Am I missing something here?

i dont know if this issue has been there before WAR 1.2.0 but in now-a-days version (1.2 and 1.2.1) the most big textures like a background texture simply "block" other surfaces in the UI-mod-menu of WAR. I cant click behind a background without moving its position.

Can anyone help me, or is there an addon? my background is difficult to put in the correct position (every milimeter counts)

Easiest way to stop from moving your background is to unregister them in the layout window. The Layout Editor Manager mod does this quite well. Just set where you need your panels then use /lemmie to unregister and 'locl' them in place then you can arrange away.

how do i change the color to green??

it should be very easy when you open the xpanels menu. u can set the colour of all panels with the numbers (red, green, blue) so for green u can set it to 50/255/50 or 0/255/0...

Does this resize the view area or just cover it up?

i havent seen this option, this addon just gives you the option to put some textures all over your UI where you want, others would be very difficult i think.

Any estimate on when you're going to add that option to change layers for bars? Or a way I can botch it together myself? Pretty pleaaaase? >.<

  • Heya neo2121, Try using Lemmie (http://war.curse.com/downloads/war-addons/details/lemmie.aspx). I love the panels I've made with xpanels, but got annoyed of not being able to change layers and having to move them to get at stuff underneath when editing my layout. Lemmie can help you with that if that's what you need to accomplish.

um.. that's not what im trying to accomplish. I'm talking bout layers onscreen not in the layout editor, like having a transparent panel over the minimap.. Anyway, I've modified it to work with layers myself.. it's on teh forums

Any reason why the settings don't save when you set the opacity of a panel? When ever I reload the game, or reload the ui it resets.

xPanel Custom Package: when adding your own images, it doesn't seem to read the sizes, just sets them to whatever the current values are in the edit boxes. When first selected, I'm assuming it's supposed to set the image to the size specified in the LUA. Could be wrong though.

can you get more specific about what's happening and what you're expecting?
if this helps with your question: WAR does not read the dimensions of a texture file (therefore you have to write them in the texturelist.lua). textures get also stretched/compressed to fit the size of the panel.

The thing is that xPanels covers both the default XP and Renown bar so who do I contact then? Mythic? ;) If it wasn't for this "issue" I'd use xPanels over SNT within a heartbeat.

I love the mod, but am having difficulties. I plugged in some of my own custom textures, but can't get any custom textures to load, including the prepackaged ones. I followed the readme precisely and am not seeing the textures. I create a window, and a little black window shows up, i then try to apply the custom texture and the created window disappears. I have no idea what the problem is. I can post my custom textures folder somewhere if need be. Thanks for you help, and for a great mod.

Did you activate the box "use texture color"?

sounds like you have tinted the bars black (default setting, should probably be changed). make sure you checked [x] use texture color, or whatever it was called

Even with the box checked and the color set to something other than black, when attempting to apply the custom texture (both mine and yours) the box simply disappears.

hm, is the panel still there in the layout editor? do you get any errors in the /debug log when trying to create a panel with textures? does the disappearance of the bars apply for the prepackaged textures as well?

The panel remains in the layout editor. There are no reports in the /debug log at all. The panel disappears both with the prepackaged textures and with my own textures. Just to make sure I have it right, my textures the lua and the xml file are found in:
