zChatMod extends functionality of the default chat frame. It adds an extra tab named zChat to the default chat window. It supports item links, www links and few other features.
Features
- Item linking. Simply
Shift+LeftClick on an item to paste a link to the chat window. Supported windows: character window, inspection window, backpack, bank vault, guild vault, auction, merchants. You can even relink an item by Shit+LeftClicking on its link in the chat window. Link will be pasted only if chat text entry bar is visible. To see an item someone has pasted simply click it.
- URL Copying. Makes copying URLs from the chat window really easy. Everything you need to do is to click it and copy it to the clipboard.
- Players checking. If you want to know basic information about a player
Shift+LeftClick his or her name in the chat window.
- Whispering to players. To whisper a player click his or her name in the chat window.
- Short channel names. Channel names has been shortened to one letter, e.g. [Guild] has been changed to [G].
- zChat frame can be resized. It automatically resizes itself together with the default chat frame.
Additional note
Please note: Mythic have already promised us that the chat window will be improved, all all necessary features will be implemented, especially item linking. About time I might add. zChatMod might become obsolete in just a few weeks. Because of that I don't want to put too much effort in improving this addon. I'm going to fix bugs and I _might_ add few more features (got quite a lot ideas actually).
Known Caveats
- zChatMod doesn't actually improve the default chat window. Instead, it adds new tab and chat frame. Very poor and with no configuration options. The target would be to make it so good to replace the default frame. As for now it does nothing with four default tabs.
- zChatMod doesn't display some information e.g. emotes or /who results
- After resizing, old text in zChatMod will not reposition itself and new text will appear again from the top of the window.
- After /reloadui zChatMod frame will be empty.
- Despite that you have to click a link to see item, link is just a tooltip. That means it will dissapear as soon as mouse cursor is no longer over it.
- Pattern for finding URLs in text is very simple, it might produce many false positives.
- Item links don't look too nice in classic chat tab.
To do
- to fix bugs and improve stability, adding filters
- to improve docking (it's just a workaround right now and it may be a bit buggy)
- to add filters
Thanks
Big thanks go to:
- Nekron from the Royal Legion guild at the Karak Eight Peaks EU server for inviting me and keeping me in guild which helps me to develop both zChatMod and zMailMod.
- Elder82 for providing a way to dock zChatMod to other tabs in the default chat window.
v0.2.3
zChat window is now docked to other tabs in the default chat window.
v0.2.2
Initial release.
Installation Guide
- Exit "Warhammer Online" completely
- Download the mod you want to install
- Make a folder on your desktop called "My Mods"
- Save the .zip/.rar files to this folder.
- If, when you try to download the file, it automatically "opens" it... you need to RIGHT click on the link and "save as..." or "Save Target As".
- Extract the file - commonly known as 'unzipping'
Do this ONE FILE AT A TIME!
- Windows
- Windows XP has a built in ZIP extractor. Double click on the file to open it, inside should be the file or folders needed. Copy these outside to the "My Mods" folder.
- WinRAR: Right click the file, select "Extract Here"
- WinZip: You MUST make sure the option to "Use Folder Names" is CHECKED or it will just extract the files and not make the proper folders how the Authors designed
- Verify your WAR Installation Path
That is where you are running WAR from and THAT is where you need to install your mods.
- Move to the Addon folder
- Open your Warhammer Online folder. (default is C:\Program Files\Warhammer Online\)
- Go into the "Interface" folder.
- Go into the "AddOns" folder.
- In a new window, open the "My Mods" folder.
- The "My Mods" folder should have the "Addonname" folder in it.
- Move the "Addonname" folder into the "AddOns" folder
- Start Warhammer Online
Translations
When you download a mod, please be sure that the mod is compatible with your translation of WAR. Some mods only work on the US versions, while some only work on some of the various European versions. These variations are called "Localizations".
