Curse Client is missing

Before reading my message, please understand I am not blaming curse for my problem, but it seems that I may be having a curse problem that is related to being hacked.

Today, 10/30/09 I started up the curse client and checked for new add-ons, there were none. I minimized it to the tray and started up WOW. I played for 30 mins or so and got disconnected, no big deal, I was in Dalaran, it happens all the time. I messed around with some other things for a few minutes before logging in and I found my character in a different location. That scream trouble. I so quickly logged onto battle.net and changed my password and figured I was safe. Apparently I was not, because a few minutes later I was kicked off again and my new or old password didn't work. I tried getting it changed on Battle.net, but couldn't, then tried checking my e-mail and that had been hacked too probably because I did the stupid thing with my new battle.net password and I used the same password I use for my e-mail, stupid me.

Now I know that add-ons downloaded via the curse client can't cause this to happen and I am not blaming curse. But what is really strange now is that my curse folder in program files is now corrupted/unreadable. I find it very odd that my curse client worked just prior to being hacked and then right afterward it is gone/corrupted. I really want to track down how I was hacked. I haven't downloaded anything WOW related at all other than using the curse client. Is it possible that some thing could have happened to my curse client that allowed someone to gain access to my username and password? I only used that password for WOW so it never gets typed anywhere but in the WOW client. Anyone have any idea what could cause the curse client to be removed from my system at the same time allowing my account to be stolen?

My curse client was okay after a reboot, but I still don't know what went wrong with it. I did find 2 viruses that I think were responsible for me getting hacked. But what I find strange is that I have not downloaded anything WOW related except through the curse client. I did download a few things off cnet and I trust them as much as I do curse. I just don't understand how I got a virus when I have not downloaded anything WOW related. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

You don't have to download something wow related to get a virus.

If you're downloading the Curse Client from the Curse site, there is nothing malicious about it.

Your best bet is to always run antivirus software, ensure your system is up to date with patches, use a firewall and get an authenticator for your Battle.net account.
