"Fixed an issue with the targeting system that could be used by players
to gain an unfair advantage. Targeting of friendly players will now
work in the same way as using abilities. Players must either use a
keyboard key or click with the mouse to acquire a friendly target. To
target a monster or NPC, players must click on the target in the world
or /assist a friendly player. Players using our default user interface
should see no change as a result of this fix".
Does this mean that we'll have to heal the good old fashioned way after this patch or did I miss something ?

This type of "fix" is exactly why I stopped playing WoW. I wish companies would stop "fixing" things that made the game more enjoyable than the "correct" way.
Damage output in WAR is already high enough that healing is hard - no more mouse-over healing will make it nearly impossible to effectively heal in scenarios or decent size RvR.

Everyone please feedback this and see if we can't get Mythic to leave mouse-over-casting in the game. To me, if it's an advantage, they should add it to the core UI - not remove it from the addons (it adds to the fun and enjoyment of the game so why get rid of it? (that was Blizzard's mistake with WoW (at least early on))).

it looks like u dont have reason to fear, only change is that u have to doubleclick the target(frame) to cast spell. It sux tbh, u can hate it or just used to it...

That still leaves any of the true hover-cast addons and methods broken in 1.0.5. I've been using ISMoCasts since it was released and have come to really like the way it works (I believe HoverCast and probably others work the same). These will definitely stop working in 1.0.5.
These addons have been out there pretty much since launch. If Mythic knew they didn't like them, why wait months to disable them? At a minimum, they could have put a message on the patcher that they would be changing this in an upcoming patch since it is a major change that breaks many addons (or, at least, forces the addon developers to change the way they work).

Aww c'mon, I see you're a 'clicker' but can't you press a few buttons on the keyboard too?
Target friendly -> press <Heal_X> keybind -> done in less than 0.5 sec. (and since you have global cooldowns, that won't be that much slower than just mouse-over)

I could do that but then my target is not what it was before casting the spell (it's the newly clicked target). I really like not having to click (eg hover-cast) and "sticky" targeting - both of which go away in 1.0.5.
On top of that, I realized SelfTarget will also break which mostly just fixes the bizarre targeting issues in Warhammer (periodically losing friendly target for no good reason (eg no click or such)).

no other action in the game can be automated like this, don't see why healing should be any different.
good fix imo.

Actually, all abilities could be "automated" in exactly this way. Admittedly, all it does is save a few clicks but for a sole healer in a rvr group or scenario, it means there is some chance to actually be able to heal everyone at least a little. Without this functionality, Mythic is forcing healers to spend all of their time healing (whereas I was impressed with WAR that healers were not simply heal-bots as in many other games).
Besides that, targeting is slightly screwy in WAR and some of these addons fix it.
