Why is it that Curse can charge for hosting an add on program & Carbonite cannot? Seems weird to me!

Just to avoid confusion, there is no charge for downloading addons, nor for the client itself.  The client is quite usable without upgrading to Premium.  While the 'Update All' feature is certainly convenient, odds are all your addons aren't getting updates every day.  There are no addons you can access with Premium that you can't also download with the free service, using either the website or client.

I'm going to be following my adventures as a newly non-premium client user on my Blog.  Tonight I need to add some more addons to the mix, so if anyone has suggestions post them as comments over on the blog page.

Im very mad now to first they make it so we cant use wow matrix and say we have to use them .Now they force us to pay in order to update all at once . I see a scam coming and them ripping us off  .Im sorry  to any of the addons who accept  donations if they use curse they will never see any more donations from me again. They can just get there money from curse cause it wont come from me any more .

your mad cause wowmatrix was stealing their bandwidth that they have to pay for?

No one is forcing you guys to pay so whats the real issue?

Then they should put a donate button up rather than limit the functionality of a program that was once free to use.

But that would give you a choice.  What good is a monopoly with choice?

Does your cable or DSL provider just put a donate button up instead of charging you?  Does your electric company just put a donate button up and not charge? 

I still don't see the big problem.  The basic service is still free, the only thing you cant do is update all at once.  And for the time and programming it took to make and continue to maintain this site and the app they should be able to charge for a convenience like that.  While a lot of people may see it as something trivial since it only takes you 30 seconds to use and update your addons, someone spent hours upon hours upon hours making all of this stuff.

dont get why peopel botch about there being a free and premiuim version

i still use the fre one cause i dont own  a CC *cause im smart :P*

the free client still download stuff pretty fast

and if ya use that many addons to get enjoyment out of the game you might start thinking about no playing

I like the idea you can just click one button and all addons get the update needed, you do not need to pay to use the updater!

The normal services are still free most people did not notice for a while people where given temperary premium service to get you hooked on them like a crack head... in short learn to read what's infront of your eyes instead and complaining or attacking the folks at curse for what has been clearly documented over and over and over again. They told you but most of you did NOT listen to them and now its a total QQ fest....totaly pathetic

Anyway. It still works for me.
